Rativtsi Gymnasium recently hosted an engaging and enlightening eco-educational session in celebration of International Earth Day. The school teacher and dedicated IRCEF activist, Krystyna Solanska, led the students through a thought-provoking lesson on the importance of fostering a responsible relationship with nature and fostering an appreciation for the diverse life forms that inhabit our planet.
Ms. Solanska’s presentation focused on a topic close to the students’ hearts – the rich biodiversity of Transcarpathia. By delving into the reasons behind its decline and emphasizing its critical significance on a global scale, she effectively conveyed the urgency of preserving our natural world.
The session used an interactive approach that kept children totally interested and participatory throughout. From educational videos to group discussions, thematic posters, hands-on activities, and even nature-inspired coloring exercises, every element was thoughtfully designed to captivate young minds and instill a sense of environmental responsibility.
The highlight of this inspiring session was the development of a group exhibition named “Protect Our Planet!” to commemorate International Earth Day. The students showcased their commitment to protecting our precious Earth and its invaluable ecosystems through their creative expressions and newfound knowledge.
The event was held with the participation of children of the Roma national minority in the framework of cooperation between the Interreligious and Civil Environmental Forum of Eastern Europe (IRCEF) headed by Olexander Bokotey) and the German Nature Conservation Union (NABU Bundesverband, NABU International), project coordinators Ivan Tymofeiev (NABU), and Nataliya Kulya (IRCEF).
