The effectiveness of the combination of catechesis and eco-educational activities

Priest Ihor Plevskyi is a partner of the Institute of Ecological and Religious Studies, a permanent member of the Interreligious and Environmental Civil Forum, as well as a priest in the Greek-Catholic parish of the city of Chisinau. With his assistance, catechisms are held every Saturday in the Chapel of the Roman Catholic Cathedral.

Spiritual sciences are an important element in the formation of a personality that understands the need to protect the environment and is ready to preserve nature.

The importance of supporting spiritual growth is an extremely important aspect of learning. It is worth introducing the elements of eco-education from the very young, which can help to form a responsible attitude towards Creation in both children and their parents.

The event took place with the participation of children of IDPs as part of the project “Churches, religious and public organizations for the eco-education of national minorities”, which is implemented by the Interreligious and Environmental Civil Forum of Eastern Europe (IRCEF) (head by Alexander Bokotey) in cooperation with the German Nature Conservation Union (NABU Bundesverband NABU International ) with the support of the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Auswärtiges Amt #AA_Kultur ) project coordinators Ivan Tymofeiev (NABU), Nataliya Kulya (IRCEF).

Meeting storks at the Berehovo Public Center “Everyone Can Help”

At the Berehovo Public Center “Everyone Can Help,” eco-activists hosted an educational session for children focused on stork conservation. With the storks soon beginning their mass migration to Africa for the winter, the session aimed to raise awareness about the challenges these birds face during their long journey. Additionally, the session highlighted the plight of storks that, due to injury or other reasons, will be unable to join the migration and will stay behind in Ukraine throughout the winter.
