Save the planet – this is exactly the mission that children from the summer camp at the Uzhhorod Lyceum “Leader” received during an interactive lesson at the Transcarpathian Regional Library for Children and Youth.
Together with the head librarian of the department for serving preschool children and students of grades 1-4, Olga Gardubey, the participants celebrated World Environment Day, solved riddles about nature and animals, looked for solutions to environmental situations, and tried their hand at the game “Garbage Patrol” with a sorting stand from the Commission on Ecology of the MGCE. The puppet show of the eco-theater “Discover the world with us!” caused particular enthusiasm, which helped children take a new look at the relationship between man and nature.
The meeting ended with the eco-oath of the nature protector and a joint conversation about the value of all living things. Through play, creativity, and communication, children discovered the world as a single living home, where every plant, animal, and person is interconnected. In times of war, such meetings take on special significance, as they help children feel supported, find positive emotions, restore inner balance, and see the beauty of God’s creation even amidst today’s difficult circumstances.
The event was held within the framework of the partnership of the Interreligious and environmental civil forum of Eastern Europe (IRCEF) with the Commission on Ecology of the Mukachevo Greek Catholic Diocese and the environmental protection units of the Churches, with the support of the Archdiocese of Bamberg (Erzbistum Bamberg).
