A presentation of the Ukrainian translation of the book “Children, this planet is in Your Hands” took place at the Ukrainian Catholic University named after Sheptytsky in Lviv, with the author, Peruvian priest Juan Goicochea Calderon, leading the event. The Informational Service of the UGCC Bureau of Ecology reported on its web portal that the gathering was graced by distinguished experts in education, science, eco-theology, and environmental conservation.
Notable attendees included Bishop Volodymyr Hrutsa, auxiliary bishop of the Lviv Archeparchy of the UGCC, who delivered an inspiring address at the event, highlighting contemporary environmental challenges and the importance of education, while imparting his episcopal blessing. The author shared his profound belief that “the future of our planet rests in the hands of children who conscientiously inhabit the Earth, showing respect for the world around them.” He expressed his hope that the book would serve as a valuable tool to empower young individuals worldwide to recognize God’s presence in all of Creation, fostering knowledge, love, and harmonious relationships with Him.
During his speech, Prof. Dr. Volodymyr Sheremeta, the head of the UGCC Bureau of Ecology, lauded the book as an exceptional resource for guiding the responsible stewardship of God’s gifts in a just and holistic manner, grounded in the principles of integral ecology.

The book comprises 14 chapters covering topics such as “Water,” “Air,” “Ecosystems,” “Oceans,” “Amazon Rainforest,” “Animals,” “Food,” “Mining,” “Garbage,” “Plastic,” “Climate Change,” “Bullying,” “Racism,” and “Human Rights,” along with an introduction, appendices, and a concluding game. This book is targeted at children and teenagers aged 7-14. It is ideal for educators teaching Christian ethics, natural history, biology, eco-activists, members of non-governmental environmental organizations, communities, environmental and educational initiatives, pastors, and anyone keen on environmental matters.
