“With Nature in the Heart” was the theme of a recent environmental and educational event for youngsters vacationing at the “Kamo Hrydeshi” summer Orthodox camp in Tsyhanivtsi. 50 students aged 10 to 13 participated in the activities under the supervision of Oksana Kremin and Olga Velychkanych, eco-trainers from the Interreligious and Civil Environmental Forum of Eastern Europe.
At the beginning of the ecological adventure, the children and event leaders imagined themselves in the magical realm of nature. They introduced themselves by saying their names and the animal they relate to. Following that, children were passionately doing the environmental quest chores and enjoying instructional activities.
The students displayed their natural science knowledge by actively answering the quiz question “What grows here?” by writing forest proverbs, discovering Transcarpathian birds, sorting waste, and interpreting nature sayings. The activity “Make a picture out of natural materials” was an engaging work the participants excelled at!
It’s worth noting that the children shared stories of their active participation in various environmental efforts to protect the environment throughout the educational discussion. The event concluded with the awarding of first, second, and third-place winners, as well as a group photo in memory.
The event was held in the framework of cooperation between the Interreligious and environmental civil forum of Eastern Europe (IRCEF) (led by Olexander Bokotey) the German Nature Conservation Union (NABU Bundesverband, NABU International), project coordinators Ivan Tymofeiev (NABU), Nataliya Kulya (IRCEF).
