Uzhhorod lyceum students study birds in the schoolyard

Students of the 7th grade of the Uzhhorod Lyceum named after V. Grendzhi-Donsky participated in an eco-educational lesson on Red Book bird species, led by biology teacher Hanna Popovych in the schoolyard. The class aimed to captivate the students with the wonders of nature and provide detailed knowledge about bird biodiversity and the importance of conservation.

Students of the 7th grade of the Uzhhorod Lyceum named after V. Grendzhi-Donsky participated in an eco-educational lesson on Red Book bird species, led by biology teacher Hanna Popovych in the schoolyard. The class aimed to captivate the students with the wonders of nature and provide detailed knowledge about bird biodiversity and the importance of conservation.

During the class, students explored the causes of bird species extinction, their characteristics, habitats, diets, and more. Hanna Popovych used a variety of visual eco-educational materials and posters about birds, developed and published by the Institute of Ecological and Religious Studies to enhance their understanding. Vivid illustrations and fascinating facts helped the students grasp the significance of each species for the ecosystem and the urgent need for their protection. This engaging approach made the class both informative and enjoyable, fostering environmental awareness and a love of nature among the students.

The event was held within the framework of cooperation between the Interreligious and Civil Environmental Forum of Eastern Europe (IRCEF) headed by Olexander Bokotey) and the German Nature Conservation Union (NABU Bundesverband, NABU International), project coordinators Ivan Tymofeiev (NABU), and Nataliya Kulya (IRCEF).
