Thematic Tour at the Brown Bear Rehabilitation Center

On November 22, the Brown Bear Rehabilitation Center opened its doors to children for a captivating thematic tour titled “How Bears Prepare for Winter”. The event, featuring the expertise of Lyubov Grechyn, a distinguished expert from the Interreligious and Civil Environmental Forum of Eastern Europe, offered participants a unique glimpse into the meticulous world of bear preparations for the colder months. The expert’s narration unveiled the story of how these extraordinary animals prepare for winter, providing insights into their home, recalling their difficult life stories, and putting light on the magnificence of bears throughout the autumn season. Mrs. Grechyn stressed the importance of autumn when bears painstakingly collect fat reserves to ensure a safe and resilient hibernation.

As part of the tour, the children explored the green classroom established on the Brown Bear Rehabilitation Center’s grounds by the Institute of Ecological and Religious Studies (IERS). The attendees’ comprehension of regional wildlife was enhanced by an information stand about the diverse species that live in the Ukrainian Carpathians. The trip closed with everyone posing beside the IERS picture zone, playfully comparing their height to the mighty bears. The entire experience captivated travelers, who noted their passion for observing bears. Many people revealed a desire to spend hours watching these amazing animals who enjoy fun activities on the playground, cool down in the pool, or simply unwind and rest.

The event was held within the framework of cooperation between the Interreligious and Civil Environmental Forum of Eastern Europe (IRCEF) headed by Olexander Bokotey) and the German Nature Conservation Union (NABU Bundesverband, NABU International), project coordinators Ivan Tymofeiev (NABU), and Nataliya Kulya (IRCEF).
