On October 19, 2022, experts from the Institute of Ecological and Religious Studies, Ivanna Trofymenko, and Natalia Humen-Bilanych, conducted an educational event for students of the “TheoBand” Lyceum (director Larysa Hrychka) dedicated to reducing the amount of garbage.

The lesson contained information presented in various forms:
- demonstration of a presentation on the topic “Why is garbage a significant problem?”, which was accompanied by a detailed explanation of the importance and relevance of this topic;
- familiarization with the waste that is important to use on the way to reducing waste and the garbage that will not lead to this way;
- watching a pre-chosen cartoon that vividly and easily explained the most important aspects of this topic;
- the great interest in lyceum students and their lively dialogue with lecturers;
- the mobile game is aimed at consolidating the acquired knowledge.

At the end of the class, the children were able to take a closer look at the examples of harmful things and their useful counterparts, which Ms. Ivanna had previously told them about, and also received as a gift the new, recently presented, the eco-coloring book “Adventures of Stepan in Kvadratlandia”. The children had a good time and had a blast, and gained new useful knowledge.

The event was held within the framework of the project “Churches, religious and public organizations for the eco-education of national minorities”, which is implemented by the Interreligious and Environmental Civil Forum of Eastern Europe (IRCEF) (head by Alexander Bokotey) in cooperation with the German Nature Conservation Union (NABU Bundesverband NABU International ) with the support of the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Auswärtiges Amt #AA_Kultur #CivilSocietyCooperation ) project coordinators Ivan Tymofeiev (NABU), Nataliya Kulya (IRCEF).
