The installation of waste sorting containers and bins on the premises of the Mukachevo Greek Catholic Eparchy, Uzhhorod Greek Catholic Cathedral, and Uzhhorod Greek Catholic Private Lyceum “TheoBand” has been completed under the guidance and supervision of the administrator of the Mukachevo Greek Catholic Eparchy’s residence, Father Ivan Vasko. The waste sorting criteria have been strictly monitored and enforced. All staff and visitors are now invited to carefully separate waste into these bins, helping to preserve the environment.
The principles and significance of efficient waste management are instilled in various groups of society, including staff, teachers, lyceum students, clergy, and the wider public, by the Mukachevo Greek Catholic Eparchy’s Ecological Commission. This dedicated group has a longstanding history of conducting informative activities for both children and adults. Their experts create and distribute numerous educational materials concerning waste sorting, including resources like the coloring book “The Adventures of Stepan in Kvadratlandia,” the lapbook “Towards ZERO WASTE,” the board game “Sort Smith,” informational pamphlets, banners, display boards, video instructions, and more.
The sorted waste is regularly transported to Proektna Street 3, the largest recycling facility in the region, headed by Ruslan Schwartz. This facility accepts various recyclables such as paper, glass, plastic, film, foam, glass, and aluminum beverage cans. Once received, the waste is re-sorted and, when feasible, recycled or sent to specialized recycling centers within Ukraine.
We wholeheartedly extend an invitation to join us in adopting responsible waste management practices!
