The Berehovo Volunteer Center “Everyone Can Help” organized an educational and environmental lesson with the goal of increasing children’s awareness about the significance of preserving primrose biodiversity. The event was organized by the center’s volunteers and Leonid Pokrytyuk, an expert at the Interreligious and Civil Environmental Forum of Eastern Europe, who educated children about the diversity, importance, and challenges surrounding the decline of these plants due to human influence. During the lesson, expert Leonid emphasized the critical role of preserving primroses in their natural habitat. He highlighted how primroses contribute to ecosystem balance and explained the threats faced by many primrose species due to human activities and unsustainable use of natural resources. The children engaged in educational and didactic games designed to help them learn and differentiate between various types of primroses, enabling them to grasp this issue in a more accessible and profound manner. The participants showed great interest in the games, actively interacting with each other and learning about different plant species. Following the indoor session, the children visited the center’s yard to observe real primroses up close and capture images for further study.
At the conclusion of the event, each participant had the opportunity to express their thoughts and impressions about primroses through art. Children used paints and paper where they creatively depicted the beauty and uniqueness of the plants they had observed and learned about during the lesson. This experience not only inspired the children to explore nature but also fostered a sense of responsibility towards environmental conservation.
The event was held within the framework of cooperation between the Interreligious and Civil Environmental Forum of Eastern Europe (IRCEF) headed by Olexander Bokotey) and the German Nature Conservation Union (NABU Bundesverband, NABU International), project coordinators Ivan Tymofeiev (NABU), and Nataliya Kulya (IRCEF).
