Kindergarten owl lesson on International Children’s Day

On International Children’s Day, volunteers from the volunteer center “Everybody Can Help” paid a visit to the kindergarten and conducted an eco-educational class about birds.

The children listened intently to ornithology specialist Leonid Pokrytyuk’s owl stories and attempted to replicate the voice of the Scops owl. The child discovered that owls are hunters at night with acute sight and hearing perception. Many of them hunt mice and insects and reside in higher trees.

During the sound presentation, a little owl flew in and became immediately curious about the newly installed nest box. The students and teachers spent a long time watching the bird and photographing the strange Scops owl. Small event attendees were given nature-themed booklets, coloring pages, and books as a reminder to continue studying the environment with interest.

The event was held as part of the cooperation of the Interreligious and environmental civil forum of Eastern Europe (IRCEF) (headed by Alexander Bokotey) with the German Nature Conservation Union (NABU Bundesverband NABU International ), project coordinators  Ivan Tymofeiev (NABU), Nataliya Kulya (IRCEF).
