Students from the 6th grade of Velykyi Bychkiv General Secondary Education Institution (Levels I–III) No. 1 transformed a lesson into a fairy tale and the assembly hall into a theater during an environmental event led by IERS eco-trainer Viktoriia Daniuk. The students staged an environmental puppet show titled “For a Life Without Waste.”
The young actors utilized a special set of puppets for an “eco-theater”—provided to the school by the Institute of Ecological and Religious Studies (IERS) following the successful implementation of an environmental project. This resource helped turn a significant environmental topic into an engaging theatrical performance.
The students developed a story, assigned roles, and stepped into the shoes of professional puppeteers. Characters such as Petryk, the Owl, the Goat, the Bear Cub, and the Tiger Cub came to life before the audience, drawing attention to the issue of environmental pollution and the need to treat nature with care.
Through vivid characters and creative performance, the participants conveyed an important message to the audience: the cleanliness of our environment depends on the daily choices each of us makes. Not leaving trash behind, consuming resources responsibly, and caring for nature are simple steps that pave the way for major changes.
The event took place within the framework of a partnership between the Interreligious and Environmental Civil Forum of Eastern Europe (IRCEF), the Commission for Ecology of the Mukachevo Greek Catholic Eparchy, and the environmental units of the Churches, with the support of the Archdiocese of Bamberg (Erzbistum Bamberg).
