Environmental education is an important part of a child’s general education. Conveying the importance of preserving the surrounding world, and protecting nature and every part of it is an extremely necessary aspect for future generations, for their future comfortable life. Unfortunately, this aspect is not always given enough attention, considering it’s not a priority, less important. Perhaps such a perception stems from the fact that there’s a lack of understanding, which is not critical for the desire to learn, to change one’s view of such an important problem. By conveying information to children about the importance of preserving the environment, this information also touches the ears of parents, which can cause them to understand the need for such an important component of a child’s upbringing as eco-education.
On October 20, 2022, the students of the “Opre Roma” Berehovo Gymnasium were presented with a children’s book about responsibility for Creation, an ecological tale by Natalia Humen-Bilanych “Bats”, and also a coloring book “Stepan’s Adventures in Kvadratlandia” were created and presented by the author Ivanka Trofymenko in collaboration with by designer Emilia Slyvchuk under the general editorship of Oleksandr Bokotey, in the style of the well-known game “Minecraft”, which helps in learning about responsible waste management.
The event was held within the framework of the project “Churches, religious and public organizations for the eco-education of national minorities”, which is implemented by the Interreligious and Environmental Civil Forum of Eastern Europe (IRCEF) (headed by Alexander Bokotey) in cooperation with the German Nature Conservation Union (NABU Bundesverband NABU International ) with the support of the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Auswärtiges Amt #AA_Kultur #CivilSocietyCooperation ) project coordinators Ivan Tymofeiev (NABU), Nataliya Kulya (IRCEF).
