IRCEF activist and teacher of the Rativtsi Gymnasium, Krystyna Solanska, led an engaging lesson on the conservation of Carpathian wildlife biodiversity with students from the 2nd and 4th grades studying in Ukrainian, as well as the 5th grade studying in Hungarian. The initiative was organized by the Interreligious and Environmental Civil Forum of Eastern Europe in partnership with the Ecological Commission of the MGCE.
During the session, the teacher introduced the students to the Red Book of Ukraine and highlighted some of the endangered animal species listed within it. She highlighted the factors causing the decline in biodiversity and outlined the essential steps people need to take to safeguard and revive animal populations. The lesson was conducted in an interactive manner, with students engaging in activities such as watching educational videos, listening to legends and poems, solving riddles, and identifying animals in pictures. The children actively engaged in an educational game on the Wordwall website to enhance their learning.
The event was held within the framework of cooperation between the Interreligious and Civil Environmental Forum of Eastern Europe (IRCEF) headed by Olexander Bokotey) and the German Nature Conservation Union (NABU Bundesverband, NABU International), project coordinators Ivan Tymofeiev (NABU), and Nataliya Kulya (IRCEF).
